Big Rock: Quick and Dirty 2 Page 5
I did love Marco, I had from that first night but hadn’t been able to recognize it because before him my idea of love had been so twisted up in lust and career obsession that I hadn’t known it when it had happened.
Besides, all the rules of life said it was too soon, but that first night with Marco had taught me one incredibly important thing…
Fuck the rules. Rules were made to be broken, and in Marco’s case, I was meant to break them over and over again.
Marco jumped up, slipped an utterly divine princess cut diamond engagement ring on my finger and took the microphone back.
“She said yes, folks,” he laughed into it, “in case you didn’t catch on. She fucking said yes!”
He kissed me then, deep and passionate, our tongues joining and our hearts beating furiously against each other’s body, as if they were trying desperately to escape our flesh and bone and find each other on some other plain.
The crowd cheered and my world changed and finally one of the guys in the band, the bass player, grabbed his microphone and said, “Congratulations you two, love and all that shit is amazing and beautiful and whatever, but there’s a fucking concert to finish. Fuck her hard when we’re done, bro, but before that let’s give these people what they came here for!”
At that the crowd cheered even louder and I knew my time in the spotlight was over…for now.
Security helped me back down off the stage and over the barrier. I took my seat next to Ben and was surrounded by people asking to see the ring and congratulating me.
Ben shot me a thumb’s up and a huge smile, and we all turned back to the show.
Marco kept everyone enraptured with his voice and his seductive moves on stage, but he kept me completely in his thrall with his heart and soul.
I almost burst with pride as the night went on and it slowly sunk in. I was engaged, I was going to get married and we belonged to each other.
Fuck the rules indeed. Marco and I needed no rules when love commanded our destiny and determined our fate.
And our love was going to set the world on fire.
I knew it that night, we were meant to be together forever and do great things.
But before that all started, I couldn’t wait to get him back to the hotel room and show him how much I’d missed him.
And fuck, how I’d missed him…and fuck, how I loved him.
My twist of fate had led me to the most incredible part of life so far.
And I couldn’t be happier.
